People with skin type 1 (very fair skin, freckles, red or sandy hair, skin goes red and peels); children under 16 and people on certain medications that may cause photosensitivity should not use a sunbed at all Moderate tanning of 2-3 sessions a week is OK for everyone else but ensure you rest the skin for a minimum of 24 hours between each session and at least 48 hours for skin type 2. The EuroStandard advises not to exceed 60 sessions per annum.
Most people are able to use a sunbed but there are exceptions.

Our natural skin colour is caused by skin pigment – melanin- and this is determined by hereditary factors. Initially, melanin is pale coloured but UV turns it brown as it rises to the skins surface.
The brown melanin forms a barrier with subsequent skin thickening, is the body’s natural mechanism to protect against UV radiation.
Bottom line, it is a controlled way to tan. Tanning is sunlight, means the body can be subjected to different levels of UV rays, depending on the time of day, location in the world and so on.
With a sunbed, a tanning programme can be developed to ensure your skin type and the type of sunbed being used are taken into consideration to ensure that over exposure, including the possibility of burning, is avoided.
The Fitness team are always on hand to give you any assistance you may need…simply approach the team member on duty at the time, you can check the board on the gym desk to see which member of the fitness team is on duty.
No…you only need book for your initial 3 one to one sessions, once you have your fitness programme set by the fitness team you can visit whenever you like.
You can always get help and assistance from any member of the Fitness Team …please check at the fitness desk in the gym for the duty staff!
It’s fine to consume a light snack before you exercise provided you give your stomach at least 30 minutes to settle before you hit the gym… but it’s really up to you to gauge what works best for you…Carbohydrate snacks like fruit, toast or cereals are often the best options.
No…complimentary shampoo / body wash and moisturiser are provided in the changing rooms, hairdryers are also available for use.
A large free car park is available for Club members to use, please observe all the no parking signs at all times and do not park around the Club building…as this causes obstruction / congestion and could also hinder access by the emergency services during a possible emergency situation!
